QUIZ CLUB

CHRISTMAS TABLE QUIZ

Quiz club takes place every Friday in Scoil Bhríde. 3rd to 6th classes take home a set of interesting general knowledge questions every Monday and take part in a quiz each Friday afternoon.

On Friday 16th December we held a Christmas Table Quiz in Mrs Fay's classroom with 4 rounds of 10 questions and 1 picture round. There were 7 teams in all and each one scored extremely well.

Competition Results

We recently entered a competition which was run by O'Brien Press. The children had to design and illustrate a cover for a book entitled 'The Little Black Sheep'.

We were delighted to discover that we had not one but two winners in the school.

Saoirse O'Reilly won 1st place with her drawing and it will be the new cover of The Little Black Sheep. (published in March/April 2017)

Abaigh Sweeney has come 2nd. Her drawing will be on the back cover of the book.

Congratulations to both winners.

Cheerios Breakfast Morning

Thank you to all who supported Cheerios Breakfast Morning in aid of Childline.

A total sum of €110.00 was raised.

Goal

Thank you to all children who recently supported Goal Jersey Day.

A total of €150.00 was raised.

Tri Heroes Programme

5th and 6th Class have been participating in the Tri-heroes Programme for the last 6 weeks in conjunction with Cavan Sports Partnership.

The children brought their bicycles to school every Thursday and the Programme took place in the local GAA football field. The children were actively involved, and were enthusiastic and eager to participate in all the activities which included running, cycling and learning to dismount a bicycle. The training was challenging and competitive but it was very inclusive, and suited all levels of fitness.

It was an excellent and fun way of promoting physical fitness and was particularly suited to children who were not interested in other sports.

Book Fair

Thank you to everyone who supported our recent Book Fair in the school. It was a great success and we were able to get new books for all the classrooms, which the children selected themselves.
