Grandparents/Grandfriends Day

Grandparents/Grand-friends Day
The theme for Catholic Schools Week 2019 is 'Celebrating the work of our own Catholic School'. As part of Catholic Schools Week, we celebrated Grandparents Day yesterday. We began with a prayer service celebrated by Fr Joe. We lit candles to remember our deceased grandparents, especially those who died in the past year.
We also remembered our dear friend Fr Dan. This was followed with songs and instrumental music with all classes participating.
Refreshments prepared by Siobhán & Bridie were served, with the help of the Student Council.
Photos were taken of children with their grandparents and all grandparents were invited to visit the classrooms, view the children's work and reminisce on their own days in school.

Tyrone Guthrie Exhibition

5th & 6th Class attended Cavan Library on Monday to view the Tyrone Guthrie Exhibition.
The artist Rikki van den Berg, who is one of the featured artists in the exhibition provided an appreciation workshop for the students.
Rikki introduced the children to various artists and their work and they were invited to respond and then sketch or draw their own work using a variety of pens, pencils and pastels

The Late Very Reverend Dan Sheridan PP

It was with profound sadness that we learned of the death of our dear friend, Fr Dan Sheridan on Saturday 19th January 2019.
Fr Dan is gone no further from us than to God and God is very near. A reassuring truth that will comfort and support his family and friends through the sad and difficult times ahead.
Let us hold onto the memories we have of Fr Dan - a deep devotion to Christ and his priestly vocation, a warm love of family and friends, a sincere kindness, warmth and selflessness towards his parishioners and the school community, an intellectual with a deep compassion for others and a loyal, supportive friend with a great sense of humour!
We will always remember him with affection, gratitude and with great pride.
May his gentle soul rest with the communion of saints in Heaven.
Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis.

Thank You

Nuala McBride of Lakeland Dairies presented a cheque to the Student Council in Scoil Bhríde as a thank you to the pupils from 3rd to 6th class for tasting and judging some new flavours of milk.
The pupils enjoyed their milky treat which also boosted their intake of calcium and vitamin D for the day!
