WINDOWS POETRY WINNERS 2017!

3rd- 6th classes entered the 2017 Windows Poetry competition run by Heather Brett and Noel Monaghan in conjunction with Cavan County Council and the Arts Office.
1,700 children nationwide entered the competition and only 100 made it to prize level.
We were so delighted in Scoil Bhríde to be informed that 4 of those prize winners came from our very own school!
The Awards Ceremony took place in Cavan Crystal Hotel on Sunday 14th May and the prizes were presented by Ger Finn -Cavan County Council and Noel Monaghan-Windows Poetry.
Congratulations to Jamie Fay 3rd class, Daniel Sweeney 5th class and Aine O Reilly 3rd class on winning a Merit Certificate for their poems based on the heritage of Killeshandra.
Special congratulations to Saoirse O Reilly 6th class whose poem "The Lakes of Killeshandra" came in the top 18 in the Heritage section! She received a certificate and a medal.
These prizes are a huge achievement for the winners.
Also, well done to all the other entrants from our school who created beautiful pieces of poetry.
